Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee

The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee’s (EDI) main role is to facilitate a society that encourages diversity and differences within their citizens. Specifically, the EDI Committee’s goal is to raise awareness about Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity issues across Ontario. From tackling and battling homophobia, to understanding the stigma behind mental illness, the EDI Committee strives to accomplish a world in which everyone is able to have the tools to become upstanders against atrocities within their daily lives.


Tasks and Objectives of the Committee

  • Advocating for social change based on discrimination on a province-wide scale
  • Organizing and helping in the planning of campaigns to fight discrimination
  • Educating others on cultural and social sensitivity within society
  • Raising awareness for a wide range of initiatives that promote a free and just world

Primary Areas of Concern

  • Identity-based Discrimination (LGBTQIA+; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, +)
  • Racism, Culture, Religious, and Belief-based Discrimination
  • Mental Health
  • Aboriginal Rights and Freedoms (FNMI; First Nations, Métis, Inuit)
