  • Ottawa City Hall 110 Laurier Avenue West Ottawa, ON, K1P 1J1 Canada (map)

What is Elevate?

Elevate is a programme developed by the FCSS-FESC's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI) Committee that will be delivered to Canadian secondary students under two streams to improve outcomes in educational performance through a series of workshops and seminars.

The curriculum for the Elevate Programme has been developed in partnership and consultation with leading organizations, professionals, and experts in the fields of mindfulness, mental health, discrimination, resiliency, and educational accommodations. Sessions under both streams will be delivered by trained students or our partners with emergency contacts available on hand at all times should the need arise.

Stream 1

The Support Stream focuses on working with students in small group settings to teach them about mental well-being, resiliency, and coping with difficult situations in high school including peer pressure, healthy relationships, academic pressures, identity-based and belief-based discrimination, racism, and several others. Students will also be taught how to seek accommodations and advocate for themselves in their schools, as well as how to make an effective transition from high school to a variety of post-secondary pathways.

Attending the Elevate workshop is free for students and $5 for community leaders, teachers, principals, guidance counsellors, school board staff, and other members of the public.

Registration has now closed as we are at capacity! Please stay tuned for future events in communities across Canada.
